The Geneva Watch Auction: XV, organized by Phillips in Geneva on May 7, 2022, featured an exclusive selection of 201 pieces from the best watch brands chosen for their condition, rarity and quality. The total sale, including fees, was $37,326,350 USD, representing 98% of the lots offered.

BEST RESULTS

Lot 213 : Patek Philippe, Ref. 1518 “Pink on Pink”. Rose gold chronograph wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases and pink dial. Sold for $3,160,504 USD.

Lot 116 : Rolex Ref. 6239. A probably unique, important and very well preserved yellow gold chronograph wristwatch with pulse scale and bracelet, formerly owned by Eric Clapton CBE.. Sold for $1,652,626 USD.

BEST PERFORMANCES

Lot 254 : Seiko Izul Ref. SDAA005/5R85-0AB0. A very rare double time chronograph wristwatch in titanium with power reserve and spring drive. 1412% variation between the low estimate and the final result ($57,976 USD).

Lot 126 : Rolex Ref. 15200, an extremely rare and virtually “new old stock” stainless steel wristwatch with center seconds, date, bracelet, warranty and presentation box. 1160% variation between the low estimate and the final result ($24,156 USD).

Lot 203 : Kurono Tokyo by Hajime Asaoka. Ref. CB003R. A beautiful stainless steel wristwatch with two-tone dial, warranty and presentation box, numbered 31 from a limited edition of 50 pieces. 1160% variation between the low estimate and the final result ($24,156 USD).

Occupying the top spot in the sale’s top price ranking. Patek Philippe realized the highest figure of the sale, $12,705,150 USD.

Rolex

Occupying the second place of the best prices of the sale. ROLEX realized $11,352,623 USD

F.P. Journe

Occupying the third place of the best prices of the sale. F.P. JOURNE realized $5,179,095 USD

These three brands represent total proceeds of $29,236,868 USD, or 78% of the total sale.

AVERAGE PRICE PER LOT

Given the number of lots, 201 in total, including 5 unsold lots, the average price per lot was $190,441.

CONCLUSION

This sale once again demonstrated the dynamism of the auction market, with the following brands in the top three: Patek Philippe, Rolex and F.P. Journe
