The Watches Online auction organized by Sotheby’s featured an exclusive selection of 102 watches from the best watch brands chosen according to their condition, rarity and quality. Total sale including costs: 581 072 $ USD, selling more than 85% of the lots presented.
BEST RESULTS
Lot 3 : Patek Philippe ref. 3800/1A, Nautilus model, stainless steel wristwatch with date and bracelet, sold for 32 858 $ USD.
Lot 21 : Patek Philippe, set of three gold and enamel lighters, sold for 32 858 $ USD.
BEST PERFORMANCES
Lot 54 : Panerai, Luminor Titanium model, chronograph wristwatch with date, or 400% variation between the low estimate and the final result (5 055 $ USD).
Lot 38 : Omega ref. 22512435004001, Seamaster Bullhead model, limited edition stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with date, or 375% variation between the low estimate and the final result (4 802 $ USD).

BREAKDOWN BY BRANDS

On the first step of the podium, with a watch having surpassed the 32 000 $ USD mark, average per lot 12 385 $ USD. A result that is based on the two highest auctions of the sale with lots 3 and 21.
Vacheron Constantin
On the second step of the podium, with a watch above 20 000 $ USD, average per lot 11 458 $ USD.
IWC
On the third step of the podium, with a watch having exceeded the 10 000 $ USD mark, average per lot 5 737 $ USD.
These three brands represent a total revenue of 212 815 $ USD, or more than 35% of the total sale.
AVERAGE PRICE PER LOT
Based on the number of lots, 102 in total, including 14 unsold lots, the average price of a lot was 6 603 $ USD.
CONCLUSION
The Richemont group’s brands are in the spotlight with Vacheron Constantin and IWC positioned just behind Patek Philippe. A very heterogeneous offer with a wide range of diverse brands, which shows that “online only” sales are more open than traditional auctions. Also note the last position for the Rolex brand.
