The Rare Watches auction organized by Christie’s gathered an exclusive selection of 220 pieces from the best watch brands chosen according to their condition, rarity and quality. Total sales included: $ 12 241 750 USD, selling 88% of the lots presented.
BEST RESULTS
Lot 103 : Patek Philippe, ref. 5208P-001, platinum wristwatch with great complication, sold for $ 750 500 USD.
Lot 77 : Patek Philippe, ref. 5980 / 1400G-010, 18K white gold and diamond bracelet chronograph, sold for $ 612 500 USD.
BEST PERFORMANCES
Lot 27 : Patek Philippe, ref. 425, or 605% variation between the low estimate and the final result ($ 38 750 USD).
Lot 42 : Jaeger-LeCoultre, made for the tennis tournament of Roland Garros in 1952, is 425% of variation between the low estimate and the final result (52 500 $ USD).
Lot 153 : Omega, limited edition “Spectrum”, is 421% variation between the low estimate and the final result ($ 15 625 USD).

On the top step of the podium, with four watches above $ 500 000 USD, average per lot $ 126 557 USD. A result based on the highest bid of the sale with lot 103.
Rolex
On the second step of the podium, with two watches above $ 200 000 USD, average per lot $ 46 422 USD.
Audemars Piguet
On the third step of the podium, with two watches above $ 100 000 USD, average per lot $ 18 920.
These three brands represent a total product of $ 10 351 500 USD, representing almost 85% of the total sale.

Given the number of lots, 132 in total, including 4 lots sold over $ 500 000 USD, the average price of a lot was $ 63 100 USD.
CONCLUSION
Of all the auctions in Geneva, Christie’s has undoubtedly best represented the Patek Philippe brand with an impressive score for many watches, which shows a real appetite still from the collectors, even if Rolex has been the big winner this year with the largest market share of all auction houses. And as always, the outsider Audemars Piguet is still on the third step of the podium.
