The “Important Watches Part II” auction, organized by Sotheby’s in Geneva on May 15, 2022, featured an exclusive selection of 325 pieces from the finest watch brands, chosen for their condition, rarity and quality. Total sale, including fees: $4,254,485 USD, representing 73% of the lots presented.

BEST RESULTS

Lot 225 : PATEK PHILIPPE, Nautilus, ref. 5712R-001. Bracelet watch in 18k (750) rose gold. Sold for $113,457 USD.

BEST PERFORMANCES

Lot 313 : A. LANGE & SÖHNE, Richard Lange, Limited Edition “For Merit”. Bracelet watch in 18k (750) white gold. 567% variation between low estimate and final result ($59,564 USD).

Lot 286 : GERALD GENTA Octagonal, Ref. G2539.4. Semi-skeleton wristwatch in 18k (750) white gold with perpetual calendar. 560% variation between low estimate and final result ($36,873 USD).

Lot 417 : IWC, Ref. 7152, circa 1970. Ladies’ wristwatch in 18k (750) yellow gold, coral and onyx, with a matching pair of earrings. 535% variation between low estimate and final result ($28,364 USD)

BREAKDOWN BY BRAND

PATEK PHILIPPE
Occupying first place in the sale’s top price ranking. PATEK PHILIPPE achieved the sale’s top figure of $1,175,837 USD.

ROLEX
Occupying second place in the ranking of best sales prices. ROLEX realized $1,149,458 USD.

AUDEMARS PIGUET
With a watch that fetched $68,074 USD, AUDEMARS PIGUET was the third best-performing brand in the sale, with a result of $403,622 USD.

These three brands represented total proceeds of $2,728,917 USD, or 64% of the total sale.

AVERAGE PRICE PER LOT
Given the number of lots, 325 in all, including 87 unsold lots, the average price per lot was $17,875 USD.

CONCLUSION
This sale once again demonstrated the dynamism of the auction market, with the following brands in the top three: Patek Philippe, Rolex and Audemars Piguet.
