The Geneva Watch Auction: XIX featuring the Guido Mondani Collection, organized by Phillips in Geneva on May 12, 2024, presented an exclusive selection of 215 pieces from the finest watch brands, chosen for their condition, rarity and quality. Total sale, including fees: $39,588,056 USD, or 99% of lots presented.

BEST RESULTS

Lot 55: PATEK PHILIPPE – A stunningly well-preserved, very important and extremely rare yellow gold worldtime wristwatch with two crowns, guilloché dial and metal city ring… Sold for $1,930,979 USD

Lot 216: ROLEX – Very rare and attractive 14K yellow gold chronograph wristwatch with black “Paul Newman” dial. Sold for $1,464,747 USD

Lot 219: ROLEX – A spectacular, extremely rare and well-preserved yellow gold wristwatch with cloisonné enamel caravel dial and Bucherer certificate of origin. Sold for $1,398,143 USD

 

BEST PERFORMANCES

Lot 101: CARTIER circa 2022 – Incredibly rare asymmetrical white gold wristwatch with salmon dial, warranty and presentation box. 646% variation between the base estimate and the final result ($328,564 USD).

Lot 68: AUDEMARS PIGUET circa 1994 – Unique rectangular platinum and emerald-set minute-repeating wristwatch with jumping hours and mother-of-pearl dial. 611% change between base estimate and final result ($195,740 USD).

Lot 177: BREGUETcirca 1982 – An incredible and exceptionally rare white gold wristwatch with Hijri calendar, oriental Arabic numerals on bracelet, 519% variation between base estimate and final result ($272,638 USD)

PATEK PHILIPPE

PATEK PHILIPPE was the highest-priced company at the sale, with the best figure of $12,928,771 USD.

ROLEX

Occupying second place in the auction’s top-price ranking, Rolex achieved $11,483,141 USD.

F.P. JOURNE

With a watch that fetched $629,164 USD, F.P. Journe was the third best-performing brand in the sale, with a result of $3,012,998 USD.

These three brands accounted for total proceeds of $27,424,911 USD, or 69% of total sales.

AVERAGE PRICE PER LOT

Given the number of lots, 215 in all, including 3 unsold lots, the average price per lot was $186,736 USD.

CONCLUSION

This sale once again demonstrated the dynamism of the auction market, with the following brands in the top three: PATEK PHILIPPE, ROLEX and F.P. JOURNE.
