Ader Watches and the French auctioneer Me Bensaih held a special auction in Joué-lès-Tours, near Châteaux de la Loire, dedicated to the renowned watchmaking house, Breguet.

The auction, titled Breguet, Inventors & Constructors, showcased 131 lots of timepieces and period documents spanning from the French Revolution to the Second Empire. These unique items, offered for the first time, were a success, selling out in a “white glove” with 100% of the lots sold.

This auction provided enthusiasts, collectors, and institutions with an extraordinary opportunity to explore the extraordinary history and legacy of a long line of inventors and builders. The auction featured timepieces created by Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823), Louis-Clément Breguet (1804-1883), Jacques Breguet (1881-1939), and Louis-Charles Breguet (1880-1955).

While Abraham-Louis Breguet, the founding father of modern watchmaking, remains a figure of immense significance in the history of time measurement, he was also revered as a watchmaker to kings and the king of watchmakers. Despite his passing in 1823, the Breguet family continued to innovate and thrive throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Ader Watches, the expert consultant for the auction, highlighted a remarkable discovery in the history of Breguet. This revelation revived the genius of the founder, who was responsible for some of the finest horological works and innovations of recent centuries. Here are a few exceptional prices achieved during this extraordinary auction, which celebrated the 250th anniversary of Breguet.
