Called “A Passionate’s Journey in the Omega Universe”, this sale brings together exactly 250 watches and promotional items! The remarkably well-documented catalog traces the history and evolution of the production of the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacturer from 1914 to 2005.

THE AUTUMN SALE BY METAYER-MERMOZ
– LA SALLE » DROUOT PARIS | 15.10.2024|
Since the Omega Mania sale organized in Switzerland in 2007, no auction house has devoted a complete chapter to the Omega manufacture. With this event sale, the French house Métayer-Mermoz is renewing the great tradition of thematic watch sales. In the wake of the Olympic Games that animated Paris this summer, auctioneers Pierre-Guilhem Métayer and Guillaume Mermoz invite lovers of the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games to a final rendezvous. Among the 250 objects that will be put up for sale, some pieces are particularly atypical both in their design and their quality of execution. Presented under lot no. 30.
a gold watch with a rare dial in clo sonne enamel, a testament to the special collaboration that Omega maintained with the art workshops of the Stern Frères manufacture between 1946 and 1956. Another discovery of the sale, presented under lot 105, the “First Generation” Flightmaster chronograph in its yellow gold version (estimate €20,000/40,000) is a timepiece that rarely reappears in the auction room. Produced in only 200 copies, this watch, the first of which was sold to King Hussein of Jordan, is an outstanding vintage collector’s item. Finally, several steel models, equipped with the revolutionary quartz movement, remind us that Omega was able to reinvent itself like no other manufacturer in the 1970s to face the quartz crisis. Moreover, movie lovers will be won over by “the Scarface watch”, lot 134 of this sale (estimate €3,000 / €5,000). This yellow gold model, worn by AJ Pacino in the legendary film directed by Brian De Palma in 1984, is known to enthusiasts as “The Magical One” because of its mysterious dial and referenced 191.8523 in the brand’s production.
From the Olympic Games to James Bond to the conquest of space with the iconic
Speedmaster, this sale offers a powerful panorama of the variety, inventiveness and technicality of Omega watchmaking.
Accessible on the Drouot Live and Interenchères platforms, this sale will be preceded
by an exceptional exhibition of the 4 days or sambol e ocroore from Tuesday to October..
The auction will open on this last day at 2:00 p.m.
